We are currently witnessing a new tragedy arising from the Russian government's military aggression in Ukraine. The Japan Association of Private Universities and Colleges stands firmly against the killing of civilians and violations of human rights, and we hope that through the cooperation of the international community, a return to peace and normalcy can be achieved as soon as possible.
Universities provide a venue for students from across the world to come together to learn in order to contribute to a rich and bright future for humanity. We are deeply concerned about the impact this conflict will have on our students and faculty from Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, we believe it is important to object to any and all discrimination and hate directed at the Russian members of our community.
All of us at Japan’s private universities and colleges will do everything we can to ensure that our students and faculty from Ukraine and Russia will be able to continue their education and research with safety and security.
